We, the undersigned, urgently call for immediate attention to the alarming and deplorable conditions in the prisons of Ahvaz, as reported by former political prisoners and corroborated by numerous sources.
Inhumane Living Conditions: Critical overcrowding exacerbates the spread of contagious diseases due to inadequate sanitation and the lack of essential amenities such as beds, forcing many to sleep in open, unhygienic areas. At times, the invasion of sewage into living quarters further underscores the unacceptable living conditions.
Substandard Nutrition: In Sheiban prison, the food provided is of such poor quality that it is essentially inedible. In a desperate attempt to survive, prisoners with financial means rely on their families to supply funds for purchasing basic cooking necessities and food from outside sources. Those without financial support have no choice but to consume the inadequate prison provisions to stave off hunger.
Violations Against Women and Children: The situation is particularly dire in the women's ward of Sepidar Prison, where children and their mothers endure unspeakable conditions. Reports highlight a lack of fundamental facilities, with children exposed to violence and a grossly unsuitable environment for their growth and development. This abuse of women and children as leverage against their mothers is abhorrent and intolerable.
Testimonies from Ahvaz Central Prison (Sheiban Prison): Former inmate Taher Tamimi paints a grim picture of life inside, with reports of filthy conditions, vermin infestations, and inadequate sanitation facilities. Overcrowding, poor nutrition, and a stark lack of medical care are rampant, with the prison's remote desert location further isolating inmates from outside support. The mistreatment of prisoners, including physical abuse and the denial of family visits, is reported as commonplace.
Calls for Action: This petition demands that the international community and human rights organizations urgently address these severe human rights violations in Ahvaz's prisons. We call for:
- Immediate inspection and oversight by independent international human rights bodies.
- Providing humane living conditions, including adequate nutrition, sanitation, and medical care.
- The protection of vulnerable inmates, especially women and children, from abuse and neglect.
- The establishment of mechanisms for prisoners to report abuse without fear of retaliation.
The conditions described herein represent only a fraction of the ongoing suffering endured by the inmates of Ahvaz prisons. We must act swiftly to bring these inhumane practices to an end and uphold the fundamental dignity and rights of all prisoners.

جابر صخراوی که با علائم سکته مغزی به بیمارستان منتقل شد و دوباره به زندان شیبان بازگردانده شده است
روز ۱۵تیر۱۴۰۳، خبرگزاری‌های حقوق‌بشری، از سکته مغزی جابر صخراوی، زندانی سیاسی عرب اهوازی که به‌اتهام عضویت در حرکت النضال به ۱۲ سال و ۵ ماه حبس محکوم شده خبر دادند. یک هفته بعد، یعنی روز ۲۲تیر، سازمان حقوق‌بشری «کارون»، در گزارشی تایید کرد که حال این زندانی سیاسی ۴۰ ساله وخیم است و بر پایه آزمایشات پزشکی، آقای صخراوی دچار سکته مغزی شده و با فشار خون بالای ۱۷، نیازمند درمان فوری و معالجه طولانی‌مدت است.

گزارشی از وضعیت جابر صخراوی، زندانی سیاسی محبوس در زندان شیبان
به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، روز ۱۳ فروردین ماه ۱۴۰۳، جابر صخراوی، متولد: ۱۳۶۵، دانش آموخته رشته کامپیوتر در مقطع کارشناسی ارشد، اهل کوى علوى اهواز واقع در استان خوزستان و زندانی سیاسی ـ امنیتی، محبوس در زندان شیبان(مرکزی) اهواز، در حالی نهمین سال از مجموع حبس تعزیری ۱۲ ساله خود را سپری می کند که از حق درمان و سایر حقوق شهروندی خود محروم شده است. به نقل از یک فرد مطلع در گفتگو با گزارشگر حقوق بشر در ایران:”مکان نگهداری جابر صخراوی بسیار نامناسب است و حتی افراد هم بند وی هم از وضعیت اتاقشان ابراز نارضایتی کردند. جابر صخراوی با توجه به اینکه از بیماری ام اس، ناراحتی کلیه، ناراحتی معده، درد و سوزش مجاری ادرار، مشکلات اعصاب و روان، رد کردن سکته مغزی دارد از حق اعزام به مرکز درمانی تخصصی خارج از زندان محروم مانده و درمان وی فقط اعزام به بهداری زندان شیبان و تجویز داروهای ساده است ولی بیش از ۱ سال است که برای انجام معاینات تخصصی نزد پزشک متخصص خارج از زندان، اعزام نشده است.”

دستکم هفده زندانی سیاسی محبوس در زندان شیبان اهواز به نام‌های محمدعلی عموری، مختار البوشوکه، جابر البوشوکه، عبدالامام زائری، علی حلفی، یحیی ناصری، علی صیاحی، ایوب پرکار، غلامحسین کلبی، عبدالزهرا هلیچی، فارس عموری (رماحی)، محمدرضا مقدم، محمد مؤمنی تیماس، حسین سبحان نصاری، جابر صخراوی، محمد لویمی و حسن سواری، علیرغم حال نامساعد جسمانی از رسیدگی مناسب پزشکی محروم مانده اند.

تابوت، اعدام مصنوعی، شکنجه با شلنگ؛ در زندان شیبان اهواز چه می‌گذرد؟
«ایران‌وایر» به اسناد و اطلاعاتی دست یافته که نشان می‌دهد شکنجه‌های معمول دهه ۶۰، همچون «تابوت» که در اوین و گوهردشت به نام «تابوت حاج داوود» شناخته می‌شد، در بازداشتگاه‌های امنیتی اداره اطلاعات و اطلاعات سپاه در اهواز همچنان اعمال می‌شود و رییس حفاظت اطلاعات زندان شیبان، فردی به نام «عبدالحسین غلام‌نژاد»، رسما در این زندان، بند «توابین» راه انداخته است. زندان شیبان یا آن‌گونه که فعالان عرب اهوازی آن را می‌شناسند، «کلینیک اهواز»، یکی از بدترین زندان‌های ایران ازنظر استانداردهای بهداشتی، سلامت و نحوه نگهداری از زندانیان است.
