On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, two female students, Aida Morad-Behrouzi, aged 14, and Hasti Mohammad-Hosseini, aged 13, left their homes to go to school and have not been seen since. As of the drafting of this petition, their whereabouts remain unknown.
Aida Morad-Behrouzi and Hasti Mohammad-Hosseini reside in an impoverished area near Qazvin, Iran. Despite their families' efforts to seek assistance from the police, the local police department, and the judiciary in Qazvin, no significant actions have been taken to locate the missing girls.
Aida Morad-Behrouzi is the daughter of Souri Babaei Chegini, a noted women's rights activist. Mrs. Babaei Chegini was detained and imprisoned by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Qazvin in July 2022, during the "No to Hijab" campaign. After enduring months of imprisonment, she was conditionally released on bail with an electronic monitoring device and mandated to adhere to the hijab, to aid in the search for her missing daughter.
Through this petition, we urge the Islamic Revolution Court of Qazvin Province to exhaust all available means to locate Aida Morad-Behrouzi and Hasti Mohammad-Hosseini. The safety and well-being of these young girls are of utmost concern, and we fear for their physical and mental health. We implore everyone reading this petition to contribute to the search by signing and sharing it widely.
