We are urgently calling for an end to the inhumane practice of forcibly expelling Baluch citizens from Iran, labeling them as "illegal immigrants" despite their innocence of any crime. These individuals, torn from their homes and communities, face dire circumstances, vulnerable to exploitation and further marginalization. The absence of a birth certificate renders them invisible to the state, perpetuating a cycle of discrimination and abuse. Consequently, the Baluch are unjustly deprived of essential services and fundamental rights and are often exploited as cheap labor.
The Iranian government's failure to issue identity documents to Baluch individuals represents a severe infringement of their human rights. Ensuring the provision of birth certificates and Iranian citizenship to those currently undocumented is not only a legal and ethical imperative but also crucial for fostering social cohesion, respect for citizen's dignity, and equality within Iranian society. The struggle for the recognition and documentation of Baluch citizens is a political and security concern and a historical issue, predating the 2022 nationwide uprising. It gained prominence following the Zahedan Bloody Friday and subsequent protest Fridays, leading to increased forced deportations.
We, the undersigned, call for the immediate cessation of systematic discrimination and injustice against the Baluch people. We demand that the government acknowledges the citizenship rights of Baluch individuals lacking birth certificates, effectively putting an end to their forced and unjust deportations. This act of forced border crossing, tantamount to a violent expulsion from their homeland, must be halted. We urge government authorities to promptly address and rectify the situation of forced and inhumane border crossings faced by Baluch citizens.
