Stop the war in the Middle East, for peace, freedom, and democracy!

No to war. No to the Islamic Republic of Iran!

Around the anniversary of Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel and the bombing of Gaza under the orders of Netanyahu's government in past year—which many human rights advocates and experts describe as a clear act of genocide—the assassination of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, the Israeli army's attack on southern Lebanon, and missile strikes by the Islamic Republic of Iran on Israel have significantly heightened the risk of war escalation. Iran itself could become a major battleground in the conflict.

The warmongering and adventurism of the fundamentalists ruling Iran and their regional allies aiming for the destruction of Israel, alongside the claims of Israeli fundamentalists to impose a "new order" in the Middle East, are merely invitations to more conflict, slaughter, and destruction in the region. Neither the missile strikes by the Islamic Republic nor the military attacks by groups known as the "Axis of Resistance" on Israel help the Palestinian people, nor do Israeli bombs bring peace, democracy, and freedom to Gaza, Lebanon, or Iran.

The Islamic Republic and its fundamentalist allies have held the demands of the Palestinian people hostage, through their proxy wars in the region. At the same time, the Netanyahu government spreads war across the Middle East through killings in Gaza and Lebanon under the pretext of a "new order." Supporting any side of this inhumane war is a betrayal of the people. It harms the lives of individuals and the goals of peace, democracy, welfare, security, and peaceful coexistence in the region. Both sides of this gruelling, anti-human conflict are exacerbating tensions and expanding the war, leading only to death and destruction, displacement, intensified repression and suffocation, the rise of extremism, and insecurity.

Despite our diverse perspectives,  we the signatories of this statement as a third voice, oppose the warmongering and aggression of both sides of this conflict. We call on the United Nations, its member states, human rights organizations, and peace and democracy supporters in Iran, Israel, the region, and the world to increase pressure on all sides involved in the conflict, work toward an immediate ceasefire, prevent the war from spreading to new fronts, and stop the war.

End the madness of offering the death!
