To: All Human Rights Organizations and the Swedish Migration Agency,
In the name of justice and humanity,
My name is Farshad Mohammadi, and I am from the village of Ramaki, Posht Tang Rural District, Sarpol-e Zahab County, Kermanshah, Iran. I write to you to share the story of my suffering and to amplify the voice of my family’s plight in the hope that the world may hear us.
Years ago, I became a victim of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s oppression and injustice. I was falsely accused of collaborating with the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK), an allegation that had no evidence or truth behind it.
Following my arrest, I was detained in the Oil Square prison in Kermanshah, where I endured a week of severe physical and psychological torture. The actions of the Iranian security forces defied all bounds of human dignity and legal principles, including acts of sexual assault. These atrocities were inflicted upon me solely because of my identity: I am Kurdish and a follower of Yarsanism—a faith that has faced persistent discrimination and oppression in Iran.
After my release, it became clear that I could no longer live safely in my own country. Fearing for our lives, my wife, child, and I fled Iran in search of a place where our human rights would be respected. In 2015, we sought asylum in Sweden, a nation we believed to be a sanctuary of security and human dignity.
However, after nearly a decade, my family and I remain in a state of uncertainty. While Sweden accepted us as asylum seekers, we have yet to be granted residency or fundamental human rights. These ten years have brought not the peace and security we hoped for but rather endless despair, emotional and social strain, and severe restrictions.
We are denied access to the most basic human rights—rights that should be guaranteed in a democratic nation committed to human rights. The discrimination and unjust treatment we have experienced in Sweden often feel more oppressive than the persecution we fled in Iran.
I call upon all human rights organizations, international bodies, and advocates of justice and humanity to address our plight. We seek justice and the recognition of our fundamental human rights. I implore you to bring our voices to the Swedish authorities and urge them to end this injustice and uncertainty.
As human beings seeking only safety, respect, and dignity, we expect Sweden to honor its commitments to asylum seekers and recognize our rights. Let Sweden stand true to its values as a defender of human rights and justice.
With utmost respect,
Farshad Mohammadi
