بکتاش آبتین، زندانی سیاسی و عضو کانون نویسندگان ایران، در زندان اوین به کرونا مبتلا شده و به مراقبت پزشکی خارج از زندان نیاز فوری دارد. او بدون دلیل و صرفاً به عنوان یک روشنفکر ناراضی محکوم به ۶ سال حبس شده‌است. رژیم جمهوری اسلامی دشمن آزادی فکر و اندیشه است و منتقدان خود را یا اعدام می‌کند یا با شکنجه و فشار روانی و اکنون بی‌اعتنایی به شیوع کرونا در زندان، آنها را به کام مرگ تدریجی می‌فرستد. جان بکتاش آبتین در خطر است. ما خواهان آزادی بی‌قید و شرط بکتاش آبتین هستیم.
به‌روز رسانی ـ ۱۲ دی ۱۴۰۰ ـ طبق اطلاعیه کانون نویسندگان ایران وضع جسمانی بکتاش آبتین که خیلی دیر به بیمارستان منتقل شده وخیم است و پزشکان برای ادامه روند درمان او را در وضعیت کُمای مصنوعی قرار دادند.
به روز رسانی دوم، ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۰ـ در کمال تأسف، بنا به اطلاعیه کانون نویسندگان ایران، بکتاش آبتین در بیمارستان طالقاتی درگذشته‌است.

Baktash Abtin, a political prisoner and member of the Iranian Writers' Association (kanoon-e-nevisandegan), has been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Evin Prison and is in urgent need of out-of-prison medical care. He is sentenced to six years in prison for merely being critical of the regime. The Islamic Republic is the enemy of freedom of thought. It either executes its critics as “enemies of the state” or sends them to the brink of gradual death through physical and psychological pressure, and now by ignoring the spread of coronavirus in prison. Baktash Abtin's life is in danger. We demand his unconditional release.
Update - January 2, 2022 - According to the Iranian Writers Association (IWA) announcement, the physical condition of Baktash Abtin, who was taken to the hospital too late, is serious, and the doctors placed him in an artificial coma to continue the treatment process.
Second Update, January 8, 2022 - Unfortunately, Baktash Abtin has died at Taleghati Hospital, according to the Iranian Writers' Association.
